What
  • VTA’s BART Silicon Valley Phase II (BSVII) project has begun preparing the West Portal site at the future Newhall Yard & Maintenance Facility for Early Construction activities.
  • Starting the week of June 3, construction subcontractors will perform the installation of track survey prisms and monitor stations along the existing railroad tracks adjacent to the future West Portal site (map below).
  • The work will utilize light plants and generators for night work, that will be pointed down on the construction side to minimize light pollution.
  • The work will involve trucks delivering blocks and other equipment the week of June 3 and night work with trucks backing up.

  • Alongside existing railroad tracks adjacent to the West Portal site.

  • Construction Monday through Friday, 6/3-7/5, including night work. Night work with trucks for material delivery 6/3-6/9.

 What to Expect
  • Construction trucks/vehicles will enter at Newhall St.
  • BSVII project construction workers to be onsite.

  • Night work necessary for installation of monitors while commuter rail services are not in service.
