The Curtner Station is a roughly 4-acre property located along SR-87 and Curtner Avenue in San Jose and serves as a Park & Ride lot for VTA Light Rail and Bus passengers.
This land has the potential for mixed-use Transit-Oriented Development (TOD). Projects that are transit-oriented allow people to live and work near public transportation, which helps clear the air, ease traffic, and adds infrastructure investments to the community.
At the December 2020 VTA Board of Directors meeting, the Board selected developer partners Bayview Development Group and Civil & Building North America Inc. The Exclusive Negotiation Agreement (ENA) with the selected development partner has since expired. VTA will continue to assess the market for optimal timing for re-release of an offering.
VTA's Transit-Oriented Development Program works with municipal, non-profit, and private partners to encourage the development of housing, retail, and employment centers in places that will help increase transit ridership and contribute to a vibrant community.
Station Access Study
The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) initiated a Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Station Access Study for Curtner Station to analyze multi-modal access and circulation to and from the station. VTA conducted the analysis in coordination with a proposed residential mixed-use joint development project on VTA property located at SR-87 and Curtner Avenue in San Jose on a portion of the station's Park & Ride lot. The Curtner Station Access Study final report provides proposed access improvements, travel demand management strategies, and cost estimates for the identified access improvements to the station area and the proposed TOD project.
Community Outreach
VTA delivers outreach to the community in many ways, from email, web page posting like this, signage, tabling at events, presenting at your neighborhood association, and by mail notifications, to name a few. We use multiple approaches to ensure the community is informed and allow for authentic engagement.
Community Meetings
On September 9, 2021, VTA held an online community meeting to introduce the developer’s team, discuss station access, and share the next steps and what to expect going forward. Did you miss it? You can download the presentation and watch the recorded meeting via YouTube.
Previous Meetings
Community meetings were held in January, and October 2018. The January 2018 Community Meeting Presentation, and the October 2018 Community Meeting Presentation are available for review and download.
