Riders – let's talk about what full transit service should look like in 2023! Engagement on the 2023 Transit Service Plan kicked off last week, and we’re thrilled to have received so many of your comments so far. Thank you, as always, for continuing to ride with us and for your patience as we’ve worked towards hiring more operators to carry out the full service you deserve.

This time around, this annual plan is focused on carving out what full bus and light rail service should look like, after the challenging last two years of the pandemic. It also includes some service changes made during the pandemic, as well as service improvements on some routes that have still yet to meet VTA’s Transit Service Guidelines. The plan will be refined with our riders, then a final plan will be presented to the VTA Board for adoption in October. The adopted plan will be an update to VTA’s last Board-adopted transit network, the 2019 New Transit Service Plan. It will also be the foundation for the service improvements we’ll make over the course of 2023 as more bus operators are hired. 

The first virtual community meeting on the 2023 Service Plan is tonight, June 8, at 6:00 p.m. Staff will walk you through the highlights of this plan, and we look forward to hearing your thoughts on the draft so far. Some questions we’ll ask:  

• What service changes would you like to see in this return to full service?  

• Things may have changed for you during the pandemic – how will these proposed changes work for you? How could they be better? 

• What service changes are most valuable to you as transit makes a full recovery?
