Heads up – more service changes are coming your way in this second half of 2022! We’ll be making some schedule adjustments twice more this year: starting Monday, August 15, and again on Monday, October 31.
Starting in August, VTA will make schedule adjustments four times a year, with major service adjustments every January and minor service adjustments every April, August and October. These upcoming service changes in August and October are the last few important steps to bringing bus and light rail back to full service in 2023, and we can’t wait to share what’s ahead.
August Service Changes
The following service changes will take effect on Monday, August 15, 2022:
Blue Line:
Weekday – Service will be extended to start at 4:30 a.m.
Saturday – Service will be extended to start at 5 a.m.
Sunday – Service will be extended to end at 12:30 a.m.
NOTE: Saturday & Sunday schedules will now be identical.
Green Line:
Weekday – Service will be extended to start at 5 a.m.
Saturday – Service will be extended to start at 6 a.m.
Sunday – Service will be extended to start at 6 a.m. and end at 12 a.m.
NOTE: Saturday & Sunday schedules will now be identical.
Weekday – Service will be extended to start at 5 a.m. A later eastbound trip will leave Mountain View at 11:41 p.m.
Saturday – Service will be extended to start at 6 a.m. A later eastbound trip will leave Mountain View at 11:40 p.m.
Sunday – Service will be extended to start at 6 a.m. and end at 12 a.m.
NOTE: Saturday & Sunday schedules will now be identical.
Minor changes to bus route runtimes will be made systemwide to account for observed current traffic conditions and to accommodate changes to school bell times. Other minor service changes are noted below.
Saturday – Early morning schedules will be modified to meet extended light rail service.
Sunday – Early morning and late-night schedules will be modified to meet extended light rail service.
Route 51/51H: Schedule changes will be made in the morning due to changing school bell schedules.
Weekday – Schedule changes will be made in the early morning to connect with new light rail trips.
Saturday – An earlier southbound trip will be added leaving the Metro Station at 5:50 a.m. Other schedule changes will be made in the early morning to connect with new light rail trips.
Sunday – An earlier southbound trip will be added leaving the Metro Station at 5:50 a.m. Other schedule changes will be made in the early morning to connect with new light rail trips.
Route 86: Minor afternoon schedule changes will be made due to changing school bell schedules.
Weekday – Major schedule adjustments will be made due to the BART schedule change coming on Sep. 12.
Saturday – Minor schedule adjustments will be made due to the BART schedule change coming on Sep. 12.
Sunday – Minor schedule adjustments will be made due to the BART schedule change coming on Sep. 12.
Rapid 522: The eastbound stop will be moved from El Camino & Scott to the previous stop at El Camino & McCormick.
Other Schedule Changes: Bus Routes 31, 44, 47, 56
October Service Changes
While October service changes are still being scheduled, below is a preview of major service changes planned to take effect on Monday, October 31, 2022. Big changes ahead include returning to 15-minute frequency on light rail on weekdays and 15-minute frequency on the Rapid 500 on weekends! Stay tuned for updated schedules when they are ready to release in mid-October.
Blue Line:
Weekday – Restore 15-minute frequency
Green Line:
Weekday – Restore 15-minute frequency
Orange Line:
Weekday – Restore 15-minute frequency
Rapid 500:
Saturday – Operate at 15-minute frequency
Sunday – Operate at 15-minute frequency
Route 21:
Weekday – Extend service to 9:30 p.m. on Weekdays
Route 40:
Weekday – Restore evening frequency on Weekdays
Route 200: Restore this route, which makes connections to late-night BART service after light rail service has ended.

Rapid 568:
Weekday – Service will be extended to start at 5:00 a.m. and end at 7:30 p.m.
