Transition into your new commute routine with the August Service Changes taking effect on Monday, August 12, 2024. Here’s what you need to know to make your journey smoother and more efficient: 

Bus Route 20: Extended service starting at 6 a.m. and ending at 8:30 p.m.  

Bus Route 22: Weekend service has been extended to start at 4:30 a.m. and Sunday service will end at 2 a.m.  

Bus Route 25: We are adding a new eastbound trip from Clove and Ginger at 10:31 p.m. on the weekdays as well as a westbound trip from Alum Rock Transit Center at 10:31 p.m. headed towards Valley Medical Center.  

Bus Route 39: Weekday service is extended to 8:30 p.m.  

Bus Route 40: Weekend service is extended to 7 p.m. with Saturday service frequencies improving to every 35 minutes.  

Bus Route 52: Extended service through 7 p.m.  

Bus Route 57: Look forward to a new northbound trip from Saratoga and Campbell at 5 a.m. The 6:22 a.m. northbound trip will begin at West Valley College. An earlier southbound trip from Bowers and Scott will also be added, leaving at 5:30 a.m. Saturday service will be extended from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Sunday service from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. with 30-minute service frequencies beginning at 7:30 a.m.  

Bus Route 60: Expect earlier Saturday and Sunday service with trips leaving Santa Clara Transit Center at 5:19 a.m. to 1st and Metro. 

Bus Route 61 and 64A: Look forward to improved evening frequency on the weekdays and service being extended to midnight. On the weekends, you’ll benefit from improved evening frequencies along with extended service through midnight on Saturdays and 11 p.m. on Sundays. Bus Route 64A passengers will also see improved weekday early morning service frequency.   

Bus Route 64B: VTA will extend weekday service to 10 p.m. with evening trips starting and ending at 7th and Santa Clara. Route 64A will operate late evening trips on Julian/McKee. On Saturdays, a later southbound trip will leave 7th and Santa Clara at 6:49 p.m.   

Bus Routes 72 and 73: The southbound Monterey and Senter timepoint will be moved to the stop on Senter, before Monterey.  

Bus Route 86: Service will be extended to start at 7 a.m.  

Bus Route Rapid 523: Get ready for extended service every day. Weekday service will start at 5:30 a.m. and end at 11 p.m., Saturday service will run from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday service will run from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. We will also be improving frequency to every 20 minutes between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturdays and 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Sundays,  

Kaiser Shuttle: Shuttle service will be discontinued due to low ridership.  

Other Schedule Changes: Bus Routes 20, 21, 22, 27, 37, 40, 52, 59, 61, 64A, 64B, 72, 73, 77, 84, 85, 86, 87, 89, Rapid 500, Rapid 523, and Rapid 568.
