East San Jose is in for a festive and memorable event this coming Sunday, May 5, better known as Cinco de Mayo. The first event of its kind to be held in East San Jose will reclaim the streets of King and Story Roads, once known as the Capitol of Lowriding in Northern California.

The event will include a parade featuring 300 lowriders paying homage to the community's Chicano and Mexican roots and traditions, a specially wrapped VTA bus, and other local organizations.

The parade begins at 10 a.m. on King Road, near Alum Rock Avenue, and continues down King Road until Emma Prusch Park, where attendees can enjoy a festival full of community resource tables, local food vendors, artisans, music, and other family-friendly activities until 4 p.m.

Please note that King Road is expected to be closed from early morning until the end of the event due to the parade and car show. The King Road exit from Highway 680 will also be closed.

Visit vta.org or call Customer Service to check for reroutes and get your trip plan to enjoy this historic and memorable parade and festival.
