VTA’s Transit-Oriented Development program is moving forward on transforming the Berryessa/North San Jose Transit Center into a livable, walkable, shoppable community close to transit. Join VTA on October 28, 2021, to participate in a virtual community meeting and discussion for this proposed Transit-Oriented Development (TOD). In this online meeting, participants will have opportunities share ideas that can influence the proposed project in this neighborhood.
VTA owns the 3.3-acre site being considered. The property is located on Mabury Road and Berryessa Station Way, adjacent to the Berryessa BART Station. It is not part of the current San Jose Flea Market property. The property is vacant land and has the potential for mixed-use transit-oriented development. VTA is considering partnering with a developer that could provide additional affordable housing in the area.
VTA’s Transit Oriented Development Program works with municipal and private partners to encourage the development of housing, retail, and employment centers in places that will help increase transit ridership and contribute to a vibrant community.
The Berryessa/North San Jose Transit is currently served by BART and VTA’s bus lines 61, 70, 77, and Rapid 500.
