Fatal Incident at VTA Chaboya Bus Yard

San Jose, CA — On Friday, September 20, 2024, at approximately 9:40 p.m., the San Jose Police Department received a 911 call reporting a shooting at the VTA Chaboya bus yard parking lot. The incident resulted in a fatality, and the victim has been confirmed as a VTA employee.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating what appears to be an isolated incident. At this time, VTA has no further details to release.

In response to the incident, VTA has increased its security presence at the Chaboya bus yard and all other VTA facilities to ensure the safety and well-being of all employees and the community.

VTA is committed to supporting its employees during this difficult time, and mental health professionals have been made available to employees and their families.
