The May 26th One Year Remembrance evokes different emotions for VTA employees and family members. The Customer Service Department, the face and voice of VTA, spent the horrific day last year taking calls from shocked community members and bewildered customers. Staffing the Downtown Customer Service Center, to ensure passengers had the information they needed for the lifeline transportation they depended on.
"Last year I was gutted by what happened," said Senior Information Service Representative Staci Webb. "And even though all this time has passed as the one year anniversary approaches, I feel even worse reliving it, the fear is still there”.
Answering screaming and crying phone calls from customers, family members and friends looking for answers unaware of what was going on May 26, 2021, the Information Service Representatives of the VTA Customer Service Department stood together to provide customers with an outlet for information, not knowing themselves if everything was okay.
The rush of emotions re-appear a year later on May 26, 2022 for the Customer Service Department and the rest of VTA. Customer Service is remembering May 26 by displaying office memorials and paying tribute to the VTA Family members who lost their lives .
"This is a tough time for all," said Mehak Saini, Acting Customer Analytics & Satisfaction Manager. "And the fact that these employees do their best to put emotions aside to provide the service our customers depend on, even in troubling times, is extraordinary. I would like to thank the Customer Service team for their amazing efforts in representing VTA despite the adversity we all are facing."
