Michael Evanhoe Interchange
California Assembly Concurrent Resolution No. 152 designated the interchange of State Highway Routes 85 and 101 in the City of San Jose as the Michael Evanhoe Interchange with the designation effective upon Mike’s retirement from the Valley Transportation Authority and from transportation consulting.
The California Transportation Foundation (CTF), collected the funds for the installation, and Caltrans fabricated them. The "Michael Evanhoe Interchange" signs have been installed and Friday, October 21st. at River Oaks, family members and colleagues got together to celebrate the occasion and to pay a tribute to his life.
Congressional Record
Mike Evanhoe, a former VTA standout, was memorialized by the United States Congress for his contributions to California’s transportation system. Mike, who served as the first Executive Director of the Santa Clara County Congestion Management Agency and later as the Chief Development Officer at VTA, passed away in late 2021.
His Biography was entered into the Congressional Record, Volume 168, No. 93, covering the 2nd Session of the 117th Congress (2021 - 2022) by the Honorable Congressman Eric Swalwell of California.
Mike spent most of his life improving highways, local streets, roadways and transit services throughout California. He started his career as a Caltrans Right of Way Agent and became the first Executive Director of the California Transportation Commission.
He retired from VTA in 2004.
