A team from VTA recently had the opportunity to visit Mr. Roque's science class at Weller Elementary School in Milpitas.
Lani Lee Ho, a proud alumna of Weller Elementary, joined Rosie Dominguez and Gagandeep Kaur to discuss how VTA is essential in nurturing an environmentally friendly community.
We introduced the concept of the greenhouse gas effect through an engaging demonstration and left the students with a unique task: to color their vision of a greener future on sheets designed by VTA's graphic designer, Haley Tang.
These artworks are now proudly displayed in the Customer Service Lobby at River Oaks (3331 N. First St., San Jose, CA.).
This memorable visit was made possible by Mr. Roque, who contacted our Community Outreach team last September and highlighted the importance of community engagement in our mission.
After our visit, he sent the following message:
I want to thank you very much for coming out to Weller Elementary to speak to my 6th grade students! My students now know that VTA is a great way to help the environment and are better prepared to ride VTA with their families. They especially enjoyed the free goodies from you all. As a side note, our 5th grade classes used the VTA class passes to go from Weller to the Tech Museum on Route 66. I'm glad you provide that resource for teachers to help with transportation, as the cost of school buses has made field trips extremely expensive.
If you happen to be at River Oaks, stop by the Lobby in Building B to experience the fusion of art, science, and sustainability through the eyes of our future leaders.
