VTA, in cooperation with the City of San Jose and Caltrans, is inviting the public to celebrate the reconstruction of the US 101/Trimble Road interchange and to widen Trimble Road between De La Cruz Boulevard/Seaboard Avenue and Central Expressway in the City of San Jose and the City of Santa Clara.
The project improves traffic and enhances safety for vehicles merging onto southbound US 101 from the De La Cruz Boulevard/Trimble Road interchange in the City of San Jose. It also improves mobility and enhances safety for bicyclists and pedestrians traveling across the interchange adjacent to the San Jose International Airport. The construction was funded by a combination of VTA 2016 Measure B and SB1, with VTA and the City funding the cost of this project's preliminary engineering and final design phases.
Construction improvements include replacing the 60-year-old US 101 overcrossing to provide additional lanes and accommodate bike and pedestrian facilities. Trimble Road was widened to six travel lanes through the interchange. Configuring the interchange and surface street improvements for multi-modal uses provides safer pedestrian and bicyclist access.
This project marks a significant step forward in enhancing our local infrastructure and improving connectivity for residents and commuters alike.
