VTA construction is getting underway to transform the Blossom Hill Interchange at US 101 to improve bicycle and pedestrian connections and ease traffic congestion. Interested members of the community will have the opportunity to learn more about the project and ask questions at a virtual meeting on Thursday, September 17 at 6 p.m.
The project is also designed to improve safety for all modes of travel: vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians adding
- Class I (separated from the street or highway) bicycle and pedestrian path from Xander’s Crossing on Monterey Road to the Coyote Creek Trail
- Widening Blossom Hill Road between Monterey Road and Coyote Road to three lanes westbound and four lanes eastbound
- Dedicated lane to northbound US 101 on-ramp
Because this is a construction project, there will be some impacts to the area including lane, ramp and sidewalk closures, traffic detours, dust, noise, and tree removal. The work will be done largely during the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., with occasional night work from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
