VTA Makes Further Efforts to Resolve Labor Conflict
03/14/2025

Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) had two additional mediation sessions, on Thursday and Friday, which it initiated with the negotiators of its striking union, Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 265.

ATU chose to leave the mediation Friday with no resolution.

Negotiations between VTA and ATU commenced in August 2024 to renew the union’s three-year contract. On March 10, 2025, ATU initiated a strike leading to the suspension of all VTA bus and light rail services.

The strike has now gone on for 5 days, leaving an estimated 100-thousand riders without public transportation.

VTA is continuing to explore all options to get our employees back to work and our customers back on the road.
