With summer winding down, VTA has been seeing some record-breaking ridership trends.
September 2024 is the first month since March 2020 in which VTA has seen 100,000+ riders on multiple days of service. This occurred on ten separate weekdays, with the most recent one being Thursday, September 19th when VTA helped a total of 102,231 riders get to and from their destinations throughout Santa Clara County.
This trend is due to high schools and local colleges returning to session, scheduled events at Levi’s Stadium, and rising demand from workers. More people are also traveling during off-peak hours, specifically during the midday, evening, and weekends.
In response, VTA has a number of proposals to help respond to ridership demands. On Monday, October 28th, VTA will be restoring Routes 31, 37, 55, and 83 to full service as adopted in the 2024 Transit Service Plan. Additionally, VTA will consider frequency improvements and additional service hours for next year. View the proposals for 2025.
Thank you for choosing to ride with VTA!
