Join VTA and elected and community leaders to celebrate the start of construction on the light rail extension known as the Eastridge to BART Regional Connector. Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 10 am to noon at the Eastridge Transit Center, 121 Eastridge Mall, near the intersection of Tully Road and Capitol Expressway. Everyone is welcome!
This groundbreaking event includes a community resource fair, refreshments, music, and other entertainment.
The extension is part of VTA’s Orange Line, which currently runs from Alum Rock to Mountain View, with a station at the Milpitas Transit Center, where passengers can transfer to BART service throughout the rest of the Bay Area.
This 2.4 mile alignment will transform Capitol Expressway into a multi-modal expressway offering Bus Rapid Transit, light rail transit, and safe connections to the regional transit system, which is BART.
Construction is expected to take approximately four years, with an elevated guideway for the track, and two additional light rail stations, at Story Road and the Eastridge Transit Center.
