The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), in cooperation with the City of Milpitas and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), proposes to modify westbound Calaveras Boulevard near State Route (SR) 237.
Objectives
The purpose of this project is to relieve congestion and improve traffic operations by:
- Adding High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) bypass lane at the westbound SR 237 on-ramp from Calaveras Boulevard
- Extending existing HOV bypass at the westbound SR 237/McCarthy Blvd on-ramp to the signal limit line and associated receiving lane on Calaveras Blvd.

Project Features
The proposed improvements may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Install new ramp metering signal to accommodate two general purpose lanes and one HOV lane at the Calaveras Blvd. on-ramp
- Add signing and striping changes on westbound Calaveras Blvd. near the McCarthy Blvd intersection
- Construct other improvements as needed
